Looking for a new domain name...
We all of us know already that my Castlevania site is more than dead.
This month I have been quite active and I've been revamping the site from my own server, and it doesn't look that bad now.

I'm exited about the idea of my Castlevania site's resurrection, but I don't want it to be just a simple branch of my main domain, I want it to be quite independant like it was before (for some months lol), and like my Hwoarang site.

I wanted to bring back the lamentofinnocence.net domain name, but I am not sure how the fuck it works.
I just know that it is "reserved" and being used by some crap, like an ads company or whatever and I can't get it back without a bid or something, specially since I wasn't the original owner.
And then I found that negotiating for a domain name is so fucking expensive, at least for me right now it is so damn expensive.

So, I'll wait some time to save more money and see if I can get back the domain name at least as a redirect or something, but in the meanwhile, I thought that would be better if I get a new one instead?

I was looking for some symbolic names, by the way, I found that castlevania.net is available but, lol, it is like a premium and expensive domain stuff.
But I don't want it, that's for sure, not that I don't like the name, but my CV site is focused in Lament of Innocence other than a general CV site.

I need a brain storm so I'll go to play LoI again, and then play some RO as my CV named characters, maybe I'll get some inspiration with it.

From the very decadent sparkles of genius in my brain I got that the new domain would be something like:

lamentofinnocence.info
I'm fond with the old .net one, but I explained already... And I don't like the .org at all, maybe .info, but it sounds... weird o.O
Probably I'd go for .org, but it sounds like if I was red cross or something...
crimson-stone.net
I want crimsonstone.net, but it is taken so, the only option is with the dash, and I certainly don't like dashes in the names since I get confused with URLs. But it's an option...
Or crimsonstone.org, but then again, I don't like the org extension.

Other names that came to my mind:
thelegendbegins, vampirekiller, alchemystone, vampire-killer, alchemy-stone.

If I think of another one, I'll be checking. From the last mentioned I prefer the first one mostly. I am also open to suggestions for domain names, or oppinions on these.

I'll be working on the site this week, and I hope I can get the new domain name for the end of april to re-open it (again...).

Huh? O.o So the domains with ads belong to some moronic advertising companies? What the hell for? O_o Do they do that to all domains that expire or just the ones that may have a commercial meaning? (Like Lament of Innocence is such a popular game... geez.)
*pats and hugs*
Crap. :(

Anyway, it'd be great to see that LoI site again! *squee*

.org sounds like ORGY! XD And... isn't .info an expensive domain?
crimson-stone sounds nice ^^
vampirekiller looks like general Castlevania site.

*thinking furiously*
Maybe something from soundtrack? Like Ghostly Theatre, Water Prison or Cursed Memories. Er.

Who knows, but most of the dead domains I've seen so far (if not all) always have some kind of ads list like my lament one .____.

Hahaha! orgy xD one of my friends here also told me that, for me it usually sounds like if the site were like an 'org'anization, such as the red cross, or something for charity, or... stores o_O

And, well, my hosting company says that they support the .info extension, and they also say that the price is like 8 USD per domain name (and in the list it is the .info for the same price), I am not sure if it applies to every domain name, now that you mention it, I'll check o_o!

I am still tempted for the vampirekiller one, maybe I could throw all my CV fanlistings in there, but... Since the site focuses more on Lament, now I am not sure XD

Hmmm, the soundtrack o.o never thought of that XD, I'll check for more names to make another list then XD thanks for the suggestion ^0^

*hugs her domain protectively* >.>

Yup! .org is organization, I don't know why so many people have such things as their personal domains. They should use .net domains. But yeah, almost no one pays attention anymore... I've seen Polish shop selling car tires via .net and .info websites, geez. They didn't even buy .net.pl etc, but international. =.=

8 USD? That's so cheap! o_o The cheapest domain my host provides is 10 USD for .pl. .net and .com cost 18 USD... and .info/.biz is about 30 USD. x_x You have great hosting then! ;D

Welcome! ^^ I love the OST, but yeah, the names are long >.> Hope you can find something ^^ Vampirekiller sounds good too. :)

xD that happens here too.
Mexican companies selling stuff under .com only, but here an .mx domain is really expensive.
As for hosting, here they sell a small and simple hosting (like 500MB of diskpace) for the same price that I got mine when I bought it (I got 5GB in that time with my actual hosting company).

My hosting is very cool, although I am experiencing some problems right now due to some platafform change or something that is driving me mad @.@ but other than that they are very nice and always have good offers.
Most of the mexican hosting companies are just resellers. They buy space to this company and resell it here by ridiculous high prices o_O!

Wow, you must have a really good hosting O.o I have, er, 500 MB on one server and it's considered smallish-average hosting XD Small hosting means 100 MB LOL. I can't even think how much 5 GB would cost. Probably 300 USD per year. x_x
Mexican companies must be too lazy to maintain their own servers O_o Here, the companies usually have their own servers but they either earn too little or don't care and the websites tend to go down from time to time... =.=

omg 500 mb o_o!
maybe you should check mine, startlogic.com, the stuff they offer may look like "whoa", since prices are quite low and they offer a lot of stuff, since like I mentioned, most of the companies that offers small services buy their stuff from sites like the startlogic one or dreamhost and resells it for higher prices.

And indeed, sadly lazyness is a mexican mark around the world hahaha, so far I don't know a hosting company here that offers its own stuff. All of them are resellers and the same happens here, from nothing they stop caring about services and let them down often =S

I have additional 300 MB on second server! :D (Two years ago that company offered 150 MB for slightly higher price than I pay now for 500 MB. Fortunately they changed their hosting plan 6 months ago.)

Startlogic looks really great O.O It's a shame they offer only one MySQL database :( I moved from my tiny one to my current one mainly because I needed at least two databases.
The price is indeed much lower than I expected *faints* Thank you! ;* I might consider moving again when I start a bigger site :D

Heh, in Poland every tiny hosting company has its own cheap crappy server and reselling stuff is strictly forbidden. The quality isn't high anyway XD
Akira: Scholar[info]akirarodhernan on April 26th, 2008 06:52 pm (UTC)
Ah, yes, I am also suffering for MySQL databases @.@
I wanted to sub-host some friends of mine but they needed databases, so... xD

I remember when I bought my site, I had 4 (or 5 I guess) DB, but had less other stuff than what they offer now.
